We recently hosted our annual Remembrance Service in the Chapel and the Memorial Garden. We host the service annually to remember those who are commemorated at Saints and those members of the Saints family who have passed away.

All members of the Saints community are invited to attend this service. It is an opportunity for the Saints community to remember loved ones and spend some time doing so in the Chapel. By visiting the Garden of Remembrance we also remember those who are commemorated here. The service involves a sermon, the singing of hymns and the laying of a memorial wreath in the Garden of Rememberance. This year, the wreath was laid by Mr Carel Nolte, the Chair of the St Stithians College Council. The service ended with all of those in attendance reciting A Litany of Remembrance by R.B. Gittelsohn.

We also produce a memorial booklet in which members of the community are invited to include the names of their loved ones and a preferred Bible verse.

A Litany of Remembrance

In the rising of the sun and its going down,
we remember them.

In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter,
we remember them.

In the opening of buds and in the rebirth of spring,
we remember them.

In the blueness of the sky and in the warmth of summer,
we remember them.

In the rustling of leaves and in the beauty of autumn,
we remember them.

In the beginning of the year and when it ends,
we remember them.

When we are weary and in need of strength,
we remember them.

When we are lost and sick at heart,
we remember them.

When we have joys we yearn to share,
we remember them.

So long as we live, they too shall live, for they are now a part of us, as we remember them.
