Saints Sports Festival
2021 Saints Sports Festival - 8 – 16 October 2021
We are delighted to confirm that our Mini Saints Sports Fest 2021 will take place this weekend (8 – 10 October). We kick off with Rugby, Football, Netball and Tennis on the Friday and Saturday, and progress to Hockey during the course of next week (11–16 October).
In November last year our 2021 Saints Sports Festival Committee committed to doing everything possible to give our students an opportunity to participate in a 2021 Sports Festival, while ensuring we place the safety of the participants first. We have been true to this and in keeping with our commitment to creating ‘Hope in Sport’, are proud to be going ahead with a scaled down version of the Festival with participation from Gauteng based Preparatory Schools, and Colleges.
We know that through sport, fitness, and health we can overcome some of the challenges we face. The spirit and competition experienced both on and off the fields and courts is as important as the friendships and camaraderie that the Saints Sports Festival enables for students and coaches alike. We are grateful to have received commitment from our headline sponsor, Standard Bank to bring this reimagined Sports Festival to life and thank them for their commitment to youth sport and to bringing hope to our participants, coaches and administrators.
The following sports will take place on Campus:
· Rugby Sevens
· Football Fives
· Netball Fives
We will be adhering to all Covid-19 health protocols according to the current Government Gazette and therefore unfortunately there will be no spectators. As an alternative all games will be streamed via SuperSport Schools. To access this, you will need to download the Supersports schools app. All the fixtures will be uploaded to this portal. For details on how to download the app, click here.
We thank you in advance for your support as together we aim to provide a happy and memorable experience for our participants. We invite you to follow us on the St Stithians College social media feeds for photos, updates and more information.
We are extremely grateful to the many staff, parents and our sponsors Standard Bank who have worked tirelessly amid the many challenges we currently face, to ensure our students experience some of the joy of the Saints Sports Festival.

LOOKING BACK AT PREVIOUS SAINTS SPORTS FESTIVALS...
St Stithians College Sports Festival
(17,18, 20, 22 April 2019)
The Saints Sports Festival has grown into a unique sporting event in the South African schools’ calendar. Beginning as a Rugby Festival in 1984, 36 years ago, theSt Stithains College Easter Sports Festival has grown to include another six sporting codes, including hockey, soccer, netball, tennis, squash and cross country.
The Easter weekend played host to the festival which has proved itself to be a family-oriented weekend that caters for young and old, offering a full programme of sporting action, entertainment, hospitality and food, and attracting thousands of spectators. Around 130 fixtures were played over the Easter weekend, involving over 1 200 sportsmen and women from leading schools across the country. Saints Fest 2019, the largest school sports festival in South Africa, was once again a massive success and an exceptional showcase of the best college sport that the country has to offer.
Rector of St Stithians College, Dr Tim Nuttall commented, “The Saints Sports Festival created many memorable moments for over 2,000 athletes participating in seven sports codes. Enthusiastic crowds of spectators, numbering tens of thousands, enjoyed diverse and engaging sporting encounters. The #SaintsSportsFest2019 began with the Prep Festival, lasting three days, and ended with the College Festival, lasting six days. New friendships were forged; teams were strengthened and the festival atmosphere brought enjoyment and celebration. St Stithians extended a proudly Saints welcome to all our athletes, coaches, managers and special guests. As the Rector of St Stithians, I express appreciation to our staff, students, parents and alumni for their enthusiasm, dedication and commitment in the success of this mega-event. We say thank you to Standard Bank, our headline sponsor, and 130 additional sponsors – we value your support and association. It was a privilege to welcome the national netball and women’s hockey squads to St Stithians on Easter Monday as participants in our programme. Through all aspects of our 2019 Festival, the community of St Stithians inspired excellence”.
Thank you One And All.

Saints Prep Festival 2019 (11-13 April 2019)
It's a wrap! Saints Prep Fest took place from Thursday 11 April to Saturday 13th April back and lived up to the promise of being bigger and better than ever before!
It really was an incredible showcase of some of South Africa's finest up and coming young athletes in our four sporting codes on offer; rugby, netball, tennis and squash. We thank all of our participating preparatory schools that came out to compete on the sports fields and courts of St Stithians College in this year's instalment of the ever growing #SaintsPrepFest, no doubt many friendships and memories have been made. To all of the coaches, managers, support staff and supporters, we thank you for the part that you all had to play in the success of this school sport showcase.
#SaintsPrepFest2019 really did offer a great couple of days of entertainment for the entire family and a wonderful opportunity to support our young local talent. If our Prep Fest is anything to go by, we are in for a treat this coming weekend at the College edition of #SaintsFest2019.
