On Thursday, 12 October, the Thandulwazi Intern-Teacher Programme welcomed 15 new interns at the Induction Day. We are pleased to announce that the programme has grown to a total of 45 interns for 2018.

It was a jam-packed morning which focused on the following aspects:

  • An overview of the Thandulwazi structures, presented by the acting head of the Thandulwazi Maths and Science Academy Mrs Karen Walstra
  • 'Building your brand in the workplace', presented by the HR manager Mr Gareth Low
  • Explanation of the intern-teacher contracts and policies, presented by Mrs Thobeka Mngambi, the intern director
  • Tips on 'How to survive as an intern at St Stithians College', shared by two current intern-teachers, Mr Wiskey Ngobeni and Ms Ashley Turner, shared

The day ended with the school coordinators introducing the interns to their mentors for 2018. This was a really special time where both parties got an opportunity to discuss their expectations on how to build an effective intern-mentor working relationship.
