Mandela Day 2022 - Staff Drive

July 25, 2022 | Campus | Author: Lerato Dire, Human Resources Department

“Do what you can, with what you have, wherever you are” – this is the global theme for Mandela Day 2022.

This year we have decided to give back to an organisation which has, in a way, given to teachers across Johannesburg and to our Saints Staff, during the COVID vaccination drive last year.

Witkoppen Clinic is more than just a clinic, they also provide a holistic approach to healthcare by offering impactful social services to their beneficiaries. As part of their holistic approach, Witkoppen has a Dietician on-site who provides nutritional advice and health education with the goal of improving patient health outcomes.  Additionally, she provides food parcels to patients in dire need. They have over 1,000 patients that require food each month and with current supplies, they can only help around 300! They would love to be able to expand their reach and provide more food this Mandela Day!

We have reached out to St Stithians staff members, and asked for their help to #ServeLikeMadiba and donate non-perishable food items, such as:

Tinned fish and vegetables
Samp and beans
Legumes
Cooking oil
Peanut butter
Powdered milk
Nido for toddlers
Oats and instant porridge
Soya mince and soup
Rice

Donation boxes were placed in all of the school’s staff rooms additionally staff had the option of donating cash.

Thank you to all staff members who contributed, Witkoppen Clinic were overjoyed with the items and money we gave them.
