Giving to Thandulwazi

Thandulwazi, which derives from the isiZulu meaning “a love of learning”, is a nation-building educational programme, which recognises that education is a gift for life. By giving a greater number of young people access to quality education, in critical disciplines (Maths, the Sciences, English and Accounting), we are providing them with the knowledge and skills needed to become active and contributing members of the broader South African community and economy.

The Thandulwazi Maths and Science Academy, established by the St Stithians Foundation in October 2005, is now the largest of its kind in the country as it seeks to make a ‘world of difference’ for students and teachers, from historically disadvantaged, under-resourced schools, through targeted interventions. Annually, the Thandulwazi Maths and Science Academy impacts on over 1000 Grade 9, 10, 11 and 12 students from high schools across greater Gauteng; and 1800 educators from schools across Gauteng and Limpopo.
