Tribute and thanks to outgoing PTA Chair - Jackie Matlala

November 16, 2020 | Boys’ College

On 11 November 2020, The PTA had an opportunity to thank Mrs Jackie Matlala, 2018 - 2020 Boys’ College PTA Chair, for her inspiring service to the school.

As a farewell gift, a Fund was started in her honour. The ‘Jackie Matlala Saturday School Fund’ is a vehicle created to sponsor learners to attend the Thandulwazi Maths and Science Saturday school programme. The cost to sponsor a student for a full year on the programme in 2021 will be R3 500, with donations starting from a minimum of R50.

We are grateful that donations made by the PTA members and Mr du Toit (in their personal capacity) will be enough to cover at least three learners in 2021. This gift was much appreciated by the Matlala family, as Thandulwazi is a programme that they have been supporting over the years. When receiving the gift, Mrs Matlala said “I’m overwhelmed by this legacy gift and grateful to know that more students will get an opportunity to be part of the programme”. The family was so moved by the gesture that they have decided to match this offer by also funding three additional students in 2021, making the donation enough for six students next year. The Matlala family thanks everyone involved with this project, both current and future donors.

If you would like to support this Fund and make it possible for a student to enjoy the opportunity of attending our Thandulwazi Academy you can do so at the following link:https://www.stithian.com/give-to-st-stithians/project/jackie-matlala-saturday-school-support-fund
