Matric Results 2025

Our College theme for 2025 was centered around family and as a family, we have anxiously awaited the release of the Matric results. It is a defining moment for the family as a whole when a Matric finally receives their certificate. There is so much meaning in that piece of paper. It is a symbol of countless challenges and triumphs along the way; each of these have been met with the strength and grace that characterise our Class of 2025.
Over the past weeks, we have shared a profile of each member of our Matric class on our social media platforms. The posts celebrate each student’s unique place in the Saints family. Those bright faces in the photographs will always be proudly part of the Saints family tree. They carry the values of the school out into the world. I am confident that they leave Saints as inspirational young leaders and thinkers who will make a mark wherever they go.
The Matric certificate only shows academic results but the academic track has been one thread in a weave of sporting and cultural excellence. Our students have been given every opportunity to test themselves and to perform beyond the classroom. The role in character building developed through the outdoor education programme at Kamoka cannot be underestimated. The Grade 12s leave with a gift beyond measure – a holistic education that has allowed them to explore and develop their singular talents.
In school life, Grade 12 is the pinnacle, the top of the tree. I am very aware of the depth of the roots that have nurtured the growth of this sturdy tree. I am deeply grateful to the many teachers who have dedicated their lives to a love of learning and who have inspired their students with their passion. Over the last 12 years of school, so much has been learnt; some of it will be forgotten but what will be remembered are the teachers who believed in them when it was hard to see a way forward. They will remember laughter and the camaraderie of being part of this big, boisterous family. I believe that the calibre of the teachers at this College and the impact of their guidance, encouragement, and commitment, may only be fully understood with the perspective that comes with hindsight.
As much as students draw inspiration from their teachers, they too are a source of inspiration to us. This is a dynamic campus and its diversity is one of our greatest strengths. It has been gratifying to see the respect that the schools have for one another and the continuing deepening of the relationship between the Girls’ and Boys’ Colleges. They are branches of the same tree and share the common call to “Honour God, Honour Others and Honour Self.”
I am immensely proud of the work done by our Thandulwazi Maths and Science Academy. The intern programme and the work done with students and teachers is life changing.
To our parents, I thank you sincerely for the love and support that you have given to your children to enable them to get to this point. I wish I could calculate the sacrifices you have made to give your son or daughter the very best start to a life of significance. If you think back to their first day of school, I wonder if you could have imagined the path that has brought you here. Lady Bird Johnson said: “Children are likely to live up to what you believe of them.” You have believed in the best of who they can become.
When the results of the Boys’ College and the Girls’ College are combined, our 264 candidates achieved a 100% Matric pass rate, a 98.86 % Bachelor’s Degree (BD) pass rate, and a total of 814 subject distinctions (80% or more). 15 students achieved the St Stithians Summa Cum Laude award – an average of 90% and above. A total of 189 students achieved an average of 70% or above. 32 students achieved 51 subject marks in the top 1% of all IEB candidates across 15 subjects.
Reflecting our model of a College of Schools, the results of the Boys’ College and the Girls’ College are published separately. Please click on the links below for each school.

We are a family of faith, hope and love. The Class of 2025 goes out into a rapidly changing world but these are the unchanging fundamentals that will sustain them. If they choose to travel through life with these three things, then we have all done our jobs well.
