Melting Pot Competition
The St Stithians Girls’ Prep staff, families and friends came together last Saturday for a fun day in celebration of Heritage Day. The Girls’ Prep hosted the annual Melting Pot Competition, a fund raising event on the school grounds. The Melting Pot takes the form of a cooking competition, where the Saints community are invited to cook any meal of their choice over the coals in a three-legged potjie.

Chess
Chess is great fun and it has been proven to improve children’s creativity and focus.
So far, 2018 has been far better, results-wise, than 2016 and 2017. Interest in the game is unprecedented. There are always a number of chess players in the Girls' Prep Chess Venue at second break. Many Grade 6 girls play chess. Most days, they play before school, after tutor, during second break and when they have finished class work.

Inaugural Inquiry Based Learning Cluster Meeting
The Inaugural ISASA IBL (Inquiry-Based Learning) Cluster Meeting, hosted by the Girls’ Prep, was a great success. Although its purpose was to provide an overview of IBL, it also furnished us with a few tools and ideas which we could use in class the following morning.
