Teachers' Workshop Ignite Passion for Mathematics in yourself and the students

March 15, 2019 | Girls’ Preparatory | Author: Pam Flemming

The workshops were hands on and the teachers experienced what the students will discover. The teachers worked with the concrete, the visual and the abstract to understand how the students will respond developmentally to the different concepts.

The two workshops run this term were:

· Origami and Geometry: A creative way to teach 3D problem solving and 2D geometry.

· Action Fractions: teaching fractions in a different way.

Plenty of hands on activities allowed the teachers to have fun in the realm of teaching Maths. Making 3D origami shapes, finding polygon properties and fractions games all interlinked with each other and made for a very creative two afternoons enjoyed by the Maths staff.
