Night of the Stars 2025: A Celebration of Artistry
What happens when passion meets the spotlight? Three magical evenings of Night of the Stars 2025 gave us the answer: pure joy.
The week began with the annual Grades 3–11 Visual Arts Exhibition, hosted in collaboration with the Girls’ Prep. The exhibition transformed Dace Hall into a vibrant gallery, filled with works that revealed the imagination, discipline, and talent of our young artists. From bold charcoal studies to delicate pencil drawings and vivid mixed media explorations, the showcase highlighted the incredible range of creativity within our community. A highlight of the evening was the Audience Favourite Award, which went to Paige Bradford, also the first-place winner of the senior category, for her striking body map, reminding us of the power of art to connect, move, and inspire.
The spotlight then shifted to the stage for our Junior and Senior Nights of the Stars, where courage and artistry took centre stage. The Junior evening dazzled with music, comedy, and dance, with Natalie Chiang (Grade 9) shining as the standout Junior Musician with a flawless violin performance, while Thatoyaona Sindane (Grade 9) had the hall roaring with laughter during a brilliant comic monologue.
The Senior evening brought artistry of remarkable calibre. Angelina Strydom (Grade 11) delivered a breathtaking musical theatre performance that earned her the title of Senior Musician Winner, while Olerato Molete (Grade 10) held the hall spellbound with a powerful spoken word piece. The range of performances across the evenings—musical theatre, spoken word, ballet, comedy, and more—reminded us of the boundless possibilities of the performing arts.
What made this week truly extraordinary was not just the excellence of individual performances and artworks, but the way the arts created a space of connection and celebration. Parents, alumnae, staff, and friends filled the hall with pride and applause, honouring not only the achievements of our students but also the role of the arts in shaping confident, creative, and resilient individuals.
And as we prepare to launch our vision for a future Performing Arts Centre, we are reminded of what’s possible: a dedicated foyer where art exhibitions can remain on display for weeks, and a fully furnished theatre where performances can be experienced more than once, under professional lighting and acoustics. A space where creativity can truly thrive.
With such extraordinary talent and spirit, the future of the arts at our Girls’ College could not be brighter.
