Values - Graffiti Art

November 23, 2016 | Boys’ Preparatory

The values and attitudes we live by affect how we relate to other people. Our Methodist faith and the Fruits of the Spirit we employ add to our overall Vales Based Education.

Our Values Based Education cannot be separated from cognitive understanding; values and attitudes relate to the emotional dimension of human behaviour.

We instruct our boys that values are generally long-term standards or principles that are used to judge the worth of an idea or action. They provide the criteria by which we decide whether something is good or bad, right or wrong. We encourage our boys to allow their values to aid their decision-making skill set. Values are essential to our "good boy Great Saint" thinking.

The boys have also been instructed to understand that attitudes influence us as far as how we respond to people and events. They are not so deeply felt as values and quite often change as a result of our experience.

At the Boys’ Preparatory, we believe our Values Based Education plays an important role in shaping our future. The Boys’ Preparatory purposefully looks to display our values and to put an action to our values. We aim to “Walk the Talk”.

Our Grade 7 boys of 2016 have added to this outward display by gifting a graffiti mural of the Fruits of the Spirit to our school. The finished artwork is extremely contemporary, colourful and it has added some new life and energy to a space where each boy will benefit from seeing it on a daily basis.

Thank you to the boys and parents of our 2016 Grade 7 year for your generous support shown towards this initiative.
