Celebrating the Joy of Stories

Junior Preparatory, Campus

World Read Aloud Month was a vibrant celebration of stories, imagination and the joy of reading in the Junior Prep. A variety of engaging activities were planned to inspire a love for books across the grades. We were privileged to welcome award-winning author Salamina Mosese, who visited the children and read aloud from one of her books, captivating her audience with her expressive storytelling and encouraging our young readers to dream big. Our much-loved Hooked on Books session added to the excitement, with selected students stepping into the spotlight to act out parts of the stories - a wonderful opportunity to build confidence and bring literature to life.

The celebration extended beyond the classroom walls as we invited families to share photos of reading taking place at home, reminding us that the love of reading is nurtured in partnership with our community. Within the classrooms, our teacher assistants enriched the experience by reading traditional African stories, exposing the children to diverse voices, cultures and storytelling traditions. It was a meaningful day filled with shared moments, animated reading and a deepened appreciation for the power of stories to connect and inspire us all.
