It gives us great pride to announce that Mrs Taryn Henning (HOD Dramatic Arts, Girls’ College) has been appointed as a judge of the prestigious Naledi Theatre Awards for 2022.

The Naledi Theatre Awards was founded in 2004 and is recognised as the Premier Awards Event on the Gauteng Theatre calendar.
Naledi’s mission is to recognise and reward excellence in the Performing Arts, to raise the profile of Live Theatre and to create awareness of the abundant talent alive and well on our South African stages. The Naledi Theatre Awards has honoured in excess of 70 Lifetime Achievers: veteran artistes, technicians, and administrators who have dedicated their lives to South African Theatre, and also pays tribute to people in the Arts who have taken their final bows during the year under review. The Naledi Theatre Awards normally covers professional productions from the period 1 January to 31 December of the previous year and the Naledi Judges typically evaluate over 100 productions in approximately 38 categories.

Taryn has a deep passion for the performing arts and teaching. Her focus as an educator is to broaden the minds and souls of the children that she works with through theatre, so that they are empathetic, contributing, and resilient members of society. Taryn loves theatre and dance in this country and is a strong advocate for what it can achieve. Currently, she is the HOD of Dramatic Arts at the Girls' College, a member of the STAND foundation, assists in the organisation and minute-taking of the annual IEB Conference, is a panel-leader for the annual IEB Revision Course held for Grade 12 Dramatic Arts students, and now a Naledi Judge on the Plays and Musicals panel for 2022.
