What do you do with 240 girls who ROAR? You put them on stage and ask them to roar some more - and roar, they did! After 12 hours of rehearsal per class, our ever-enthusiastic, oozing-confidence girls were ready to set the stage alight! The GP Grade 3-5 production of ‘#WEROAR’ was a fast-paced, toe-tapping, mind-blowing ride through all the things that make our girls ROAR! From roaring in schoolwork, to roaring in sport, music, the arts, friendships, greetings and finally, to roaring for God, an entertained audience left the show in no doubt about the passion and joy that goes with being a roarsome Saints girl!

Our post-COVID, longed-for return to the bright lights and thrill of live production was rewarded with almost a week-long celebration as our Saints community enjoyed the ‘#WEROAR’ ‘market under the stars’, in addition to the show. The buzz of parents and siblings eating a light pre-show supper, or sharing an artisanal Asian boba tea, was nourishment to the soul and even the weather played along with hot days and balmy nights.

It goes without saying that behind every good school production are certain parents who could quite easily compare to a trained ninja warrior in terms of costuming, make-up and décor! Every class of girls was a surprise and delight as they proudly strutted the stage in their shiny, holographic pink halter neck dresses, brightly lit wire hearts or ethnic skirts and matching headbands. This school production was a glittering example of parents and staff working hand-in-hand, allowing our girls to dazzle and exceed all expectations.

One mom in particular not only climbed roof-high scaffolding to hang draped ribbons of colour, all the while accompanied by loadshedding, but also secured a recording session at M-Net studios where some of our girls were exposed to a professional screen make-up sitting and filming for their news broadcast – proving that it is not only our girls who roar, but their parents too!

Ultimately, a standing ovation goes to our incorrigible girls, who powered their way through a record-breaking 8 sold-out performances, never once allowing their unbridled animation and zest to flag. Learning steps to complicated dances was a walk in the park and their delivery of lines flawless – the Grade 3, 4 and 5 girls could not have been a truer reflection of how ‘#WEROAR’ at the Girls' Prep.
