Dramatic Arts Achievers
National Eisteddfod
Congratulations to the following students on their results for the National Eisteddfod. They performed via Zoom at the end of term last year. In Grade 11, Tumi Mphogo, Tshedza Matiwaza, Leah Moodley, and Hope Dalimede received Gold (80%–89%) for their performances. In Grade 12, Ashleigh Jackson and Roxanne Steenkamp received Gold, and Niike Neervoort received Diploma (90%+). Thanks to their combined results, St Stithians Girls’ College was placed fifth overall out of the 15 institutions that participated in the eisteddfod.
Sidney Benard received 8 Diplomas and 5 Golds for her entries in Speech & Drama and Vocals.

South African Championships
Sidney Benard (Grade 11) was selected to perform at the prestigious South African Championships. Sidney represented Gauteng as she entered under her external drama studio. She received 7 Gold medals, 3 Silver, and 3 Bronze and was placed 8th overall for all seniors across all art disciplines (singing, art, dance and theatre), and won the category for prepared reading. Sidney has been selected to represent South Africa in Nashville, Tennessee in July 2021.
Jayden Benard (Grade 9) also was also selected to represent Gauteng in the South African Championships. Jayden placed in 11 out of 12 items, receiving 4 Gold medals, 2 Silver and 5 Bronze. Congratulations to the Benard sisters on their exceptional achievements.1
