Fencing
Congratulations to Harry Saner who won a gold medal for cadet (U17) Mens Épée and silver medals for junior (U20) Épée and Foil at the Junior Nationals 2017. The event was held in Orlando Soweto and had 130 entries from around South Africa. Harry is currently the Top Ranked Cadet in both Foil and Epee and has been selected for the National team to represent South Africa in Cote d'ivoire in March 2017.

Richard Thongoana was selected to represent South Africa in the AUSC games in Angola over December. The SA Tennis Team did extremely well wining all their games, bringing back gold. On an individual basis Richard won the Singles as well as the Doubles with compatriot Phillip Henning. Furthermore, Richard was chosen to be the flag bearer of Team South Africa - a very proud moment.

Bertus Kruger and Richard Thongoana won the African Junior Championships doubles trophy in Tunisia, thus making them the top junior doubles team in Africa. Bertus Kruger reached the semi- finals in the singles, and Richard Thongoana reached the quarter finals. We are all extremely proud of our captain and vice-captain of Tennis at the Boys' College.

Michael Deans participated the CGA Champs in December and not only won three individual Gold Medals for the 50m, 100m and 200m Breaststroke and a Bronze for the 200m Individual Medley, he also broke the 100m Breaststroke Championship record of 1.07.07 in a time of 1.06.69 that has been standing since 2011.

Congratulations to the following boys who have been chosen to represent SA Schools in Zimbabwe in an U17 water polo tournament from the 16th -19th of February 2017.

Equestrian
The first 2017 Equestrian Inter-Schools Competition took place at Eaton Farm on the weekend of 11 – 12 February. Thomas Triggol was the only rider to jump clear in the first round of the 1.3m Level 7 Show Jumping Competition thereby taking 1st place. Harry Butcher took 1st place in the Performance Riding at Level 7 – this is the highest inter-schools level of competition in this event. In the Working Hunter class Harry took 3rd place out of a field of 16 riders and in Dressage at Level 2 he came 4th out of 24 riders. Harry also won the 1.1m Level 5 Competition over two rounds with a double clear and the 1.1m Speed event by a margin of almost 5 seconds. In his other 3 events of the day he took a 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd place.

Mark Strickett won the U19 Boys Just In Time Squash Tournament, which was held at the Wanderers during February. There were 201 entrants to the tournament and 40 boys in the U19 age group. There were entrants from Central Gauteng, Northern Gauteng, Free State, Northern Cape, Limpopo and Kwa-Zulu Natal.
