Boys' Prep Community Service In Action

Boys’ Preparatory |  Author: Luzal Mojalefa

At Boys Prep, community is the heartbeat of who we are. This year, our boys have embraced servant leadership with courage, compassion, and creativity, stepping into real-world moments that stretch their hearts and sharpen their character. From buzzing razors at the CANSA Shavathon, to crafting toys for Nelson Mandela Day, collecting Easter Eggs for our dedicated support staff, donating gently worn clothes through Clothes for Good, to leading a synergy event with Girls’ Prep and Junior Prep for our Mandela Day ‘Have a Ball’ drive, where hundreds of balls were collected for our deserving beneficiaries in underprivileged communities.

Every initiative allowed us to live out our school values!

And at the heart of it all - #GoodBoyGreatSaint - a spirit of service that calls our boys to lead with kindness, act with courage and grow into young men of character.

One of our most treasured partnerships continues to thrive with Nehemiah Primary School in Ivory Park. This under-resourced school has become a place where our boys learn as much as they give, through laughter, shared stories, and meaningful service. Over the years, Boys Prep has supported Nehemiah through:

• The Meal-a-Day Initiative Ensuring learners receive a nutritious meal each day, because no child should learn on an empty stomach.

• Educational & School Resources

Providing books, stationery, classroom essentials and other school supplies to enrich learning. Our boys deliver collected supplies and spend time engaging with Nehemiah students through games and creative activities. These visits are filled with warmth, wonder and mutual respect, moments that leave lasting impressions on both sides. More than just giving, these experiences go far beyond donations.

They offer our boys:

• A window into different lived realities

• Opportunities to lead with empathy and humility

• A deeper understanding of what it means to serve with purpose and they’re not doing it alone.

Our volunteer parents have been the heartbeat of this journey joining visits and modelling active citizenship. Their presence has enriched every moment, showing our boys that service is a family value.

So far, this year has proven that when boys, parents and teachers unite with intention, we create ripples of impact that stretch far beyond our school gates.
