If you throw a stone/pebble into a pond or lake there are a number of equal ripples/waves moving out from the centre of the pond. If you throw a second pebble into the same pond the effect depends on the intention or accuracy of your throw. If you throw it into the centre the effect is exponential – the waves increase rapidly. However, if you misplace your throw (into the existing waves) it can have an effect whereby the initial wave distribution is disturbed and can cause a number of uneven ripples – the amplitude would increase but the two waves may cancel each other’s effect at certain points.

So too, from a synergistic point of view, 1+1=2, or 1+1 = 3 or even 1+1 = 1 or even less than one. Don’t tell the Maths teachers!

Girls’ Preparatory hosted a collaborative cross-country event which not only revealed some wonderful running talent from our more serious runners, but also highlighted the positive attitude of our boys and girls as they embraced this initiative of the two schools working together towards a common goal.

Instead of just speaking synergy, the staff from the two schools “walked the talk”- with our Rector “running ahead “and demonstrating the value of synergy.

The collective efforts from all staff with varied job descriptions added to the enjoyment of the cross-country. The staff remain committed to create energy and enthusiasm, build capacity and grow hope.
