Grade 6 Torches
As part of learning about circuits the Grade 6 Natural Science students constructed their own torches from scratch, including the switches. Just like every girl no two torches were alike, apart from a pair of twin’s torches. They came in different sizes from minute to large, from black to pink with flowers on, from robust to delicate. The torches also underwent a gruelling testing process run by Mrs Buchner’s own children during load shedding, with a few truly strong torches coming out unscathed and receiving excellent marks. Most of all the girls had fun making them. The project also offered an opportunity for many dads to impress and be impressed by their daughter’s knowledge and craftsmanship.
