Boys' Prep Capping Ceremony
On Thursday, 23 January, Boys’ Prep held its New Boys’ Capping Ceremony, a significant event that formally welcomed all new students to the school. This annual occasion highlights the values of tradition, mentorship, and community that are central to life at Boys’ Prep.
The ceremony took place in the chapel, where Grade 3 boys paired up with their Grade 7 buddies. This longstanding tradition ensures that the youngest members of the senior prep receive guidance and support as they adjust to a new phase in their schooling. The symbolic ringing of the Saints bell by each new student marked the start of their journey, signifying their place in the Boys’ Prep community.
The Head of Boys’ Prep, Mr. Majola, addressed the students, calling on them to live intentionally by embracing values such as accountability, kindness, and resilience. His message set the tone for the year ahead, encouraging the boys to approach every aspect of school life with purpose and integrity.
Deputy Head for Pastoral Care, Mr. Olivier, provided further reflection, drawing on the biblical story of David and Goliath to illustrate the importance of being prepared to meet challenges with courage and determination. His address reinforced the school’s commitment to fostering both personal growth and a strong sense of community.
The Capping Ceremony is a key event in the Boys’ Prep calendar, providing new students with a meaningful introduction to the school’s ethos and expectations. It also serves as a reminder of the partnership between students, teachers, and families in creating a supportive environment where every boy is encouraged to thrive.
