A Journey through the Boys' College - Outdoor Education

October 04, 2021 | Boys’ College

The vision for Outdoor Education in the Boys’ College is to create an awareness of our relationship with the environment for students, staff, parents and the St Stithians Family. This is achieved through a variety of frameworks which intend to celebrate and care for our natural heritage. Central to this are the experiences which each boy undertakes outside the classroom.

Our Outdoor Education provides a framework for the journey, but each boy takes his own path. It is about creating opportunities for individual growth, and different boys take different things from their experiences on the camps, hikes and wilderness excursions. Above this, we strive to educate and enable accountability for our footprint. We create opportunities to connect with nature. We appreciate and celebrate the uniqueness of our campus environment. We empower the self to influence others. We know that a single person can make a difference if they act consistently.

We provide a platform to celebrate an altruistic footprint and in doing so, we believe passionately that we can make a difference. We therefor embrace the challenge of creating a cleaner planet. You can’t force people to care about the environment but if you encourage them to connect with it, they might.
