The Saints Community and beyond came together, apart on Freedom Day (27 April 2020) to walk and run to raise funds for our Thandulwazi Maths and Science Academy.

September saw the annual Thandulwazi Saturday School closing ceremony and the official induction service for new Thandulwazi Head - Mr Velaphi Gumbi.

Tumelo Lebea is currently carrying out a three month internship with our Operations Department.

St Stithians College is proud to announce the appointment of Velaphi Gumbi as the next Head of the Thandulwazi Maths & Science Academy. Mr Gumbi will take up this position on 1 July 2018.

Earning her place as one of 16 student teachers going to the USA on a one-month teaching exchange, Avela is flying the education flag for South Africa’s future.

Ms Ade Avela Nanti, a final year Thandulwazi Intern-Teacher has been selected for an international student-teacher exchange in California. Avela will be required to conduct action-based research on a topic of her choice and interest and she will present these findings in the USA and here in South Africa.

Here is a wonderful opportunity for Thandulwazi graduates to train for a Financial Accounting qualification at the Growth Institute through a funded learnership.

s the academic year at St Stithians College draws to a close, may we appeal to learners and parents to donate to Thandulwazi items of stationery that are no longer required.

The Thandulwazi Teacher Development Programme (Gauteng) hosted its 2017 closing ceremony recently. It is a wonderful celebration of teachers, and an opportunity to thank the Thandulwazi workshop presenters, volunteers and partners in education, and our generous funders.

Tumelo Lebea attended the Thandulwazi Saturday School in 2013 and 2014. He is now studying Operations Management and achieving an average of over 81%.

Congratulations to the Thandulwazi Saturday School Matric Class of 2016! They obtained a 98.7% NSC pass rate. Also, the students achieved 100% pass rate in Life Sciences, Accounting, and English; and twin brothers have been accepted at UCT for medicine (MBChB)
