Induction service of our Head of Thandulwazi - Mr Velaphi Gumbi

October 05, 2018 | Campus, Thandulwazi

On Saturday 22nd September 2018, 443 grade 9 to 12 Thandulwazi Saturday school students gathered in the chapel, dressed in their traditional attire, to celebrate two occasions, our annual closing ceremony and the induction service of the new Head of Thandulwazi, Mr Velaphi Gumbi.

In attendance were members of the St Stithians Council, our esteemed members of the Thandulwazi Trust, our valued donors and funders of the Saturday school programme and members of the Gumbi family.

For the closing ceremony, students were recognised for meritorious achievement in Mathematics, English, Accounting, Life, Physical and Natural Sciences. We were proud to also recognise the students who wrote the UJ FIMO and made it through to the second round. Gold certificate achievers in the Mathletics Challenge were also awarded gift vouchers.

Bishop Gary Rivas officiated the induction service and Superintendent Rev Dan Nkomo directed the programme.

Mr Gumbi has now been officially inducted as the new Head of Thandulwazi - we welcome him warmly and wish him all the best in his endeavours.
