For schools to enter this tournament, they need to partner with a school or organisation and commit to a Learn to Swim (and eventually play water polo) programme.  Old Mutual are the sponsors of this event and donate R50 000 which is shared amongst the top 3 schools for their Learn to Swim programmes.  On top of that Old Mutual donate R10 000 to each of the partner schools who participate in a gala on the day of the water polo finals.  St Stithians Girls’ College partner with “Hearts of Hope” a community based, non-profit organisation that provides a safe home for vulnerable children.

Proud St Stithians captains, the only players in matric in the team this year, as well as the most successful school girls’ coach in recent years, Mr Pierre le Roux, pose with the R30 000 cheque from Old Mutual used for their Learn to Swim programme with ‘Hearts of Hope’.
