REUNIONS

Despite the challenges of Covid-19, St Stithians College was fortunate to co-ordinate onsite reunions with the Classes of 1971, 1991,2001 and 2011.  Some classes opted to host online reunions as well as onsite reunions to afford those, unable to travel, the opportunity to partake in the reunions.

GIRLS’ COLLEGE REUNIONS

On the 17th September the Class of 2001 gathered to celebrate 20 years out of school.  15 ladies attended this event.  Nadine Mather (nee Jardim) who was the Head Girl in 2001, addressed the students and alumni at the student assembly.  Nadine reminded the current students that their class had been the first class to arrange the Matric grey jerseys (still worn by current Matrics) and some of the war cries were written by them.  Nadine spoke fondly about her time at the school and how it had impacted on her life, both as a mother, and as a businesswoman.

Many of the Girls’ College Class of 2001 reside in London and later that evening, those based in London Zoom called those in Johannesburg and a joint dinner was held in both locations.

Friday, 1st October, the Girls’ College Class of 2011 were a vibrant group of ladies who enjoyed coming back to their school after 10 years.  Dr Sally James, Head of the Girls College, attended the reunion and lead a walk about of the Girls College and spoke about the changes happening within the school.  This was followed by dinner at Higher Ground Restaurant where the Head Girls and Deputy Head Girls addressed everyone from New Zealand and London respectively, and updates on some extraordinary achievements were shared.

He added that the school continues to be a thought leader in education as well as beacon of hope and light.

David proudly introduced the Head boy James Lowman and PR committee. This afforded the classes to ask questions about current school life.

The Boys’ Class of 1971 held a virtual reunion in addition to their onsite reunion. They met up online with their classmates all over the world, giving those overseas  an opportunity to chat with David du Toit and the students online.

On Friday 5th November, the Class of 1991 was welcomed back to the Boys College.  They had a tour in the afternoon and were given time for questions with David and the school PR Boys.  Ntombi Langa- Royds, Incoming Council Chair for 2022, and Israel Skosana (OSA Chair) also attended the reunion for some discussions with the alumni.
