Learning Through Play: Bringing Plato’s Philosophy to Life

February 14, 2025 | Junior Preparatory

Plato emphasized the significance of play in learning, saying we should teach children through play and what amuses them.

To bring this vision to life, the Grad Two classes incorporated games into their Mathematics activities. By leveraging the power of play, the students developed a deeper understanding of fundamental mathematical operations.

One of the games played was a card game that challenged students to add two different numbers together. As they progressed, the game escalated, requiring students to add three cards and beyond. This incremental approach helped build their confidence and accuracy.

In addition to the card game, various online resources were utilised to create an engaging and interactive learning environment. The students participated in an online game that required them to add numbers and find the correct sum. This digital platform provided an exciting and challenging way for them to practice and reinforce their understanding of mathematical concepts.
