J9 + You and Me against MND

February 10, 2017 | Boys’ Preparatory

Joost was best known for his incredible rugby career and in recent years has shown the same bravery and strength in his fight against Motor Neuron Disease. He was diagnosed with a form of MND, known as Amytrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in early 2011.

A Saints Prep Boy is also known for his incredible ability to show empathy and support to others. On Friday 10 February 2017 our school stood united with a nation as we supported the J9 foundation.

The boys were all dressed in either Springbok colours, rugby franchise shirts and of course the proud blue and pink bulls passionately paid tribute to a rugby legend.

Our boys furthermore supported the You and Me against MND initiative where a very special grade 3 parent promotes an awareness of motor neurone disease through his own journey of living with MND. His example is indeed inspirational as he lives and fight Motor Neuron Disease (MND) on a daily basis. Any encounter with him leaves you realising he always has a laugh & smile on a daily basis. We can all tap into his grit, passion for life and his positive outlook.

Often, we need just look at our Saints Parents to find true inspiration.

Thank you to all the boys for knowing yourself, being yourself and in this case #Making your contribution.
