Grade R Walkabout

May 27, 2022 | Junior Preparatory

Third time lucky! After being postponed due to the weather, the Grade R children and their families finally took part in our exciting “Explore our Saints Campus Walkabout”.  This event gives families the opportunity to get to know our beautiful campus and a few of its unique landmarks. It is also a social occasion where families can meet each other and chat while having a picnic. The event started with a short talk about a few of the historical landmarks and special features of our beautiful campus. It is wonderful that we have a number of alumni in our parent group this year, including grandparents who attended Saints in the early years. The children had decorated their ‘treasure hunt’ booklets in class and were excited to go on the exploration to find the various statues and landmarks. Each family was given a map of the campus along with the ‘treasure hunt’ directions to follow. The children certainly enjoyed showing their parents the statues and landmarks which they already knew, such as the spirit teddy bear and sword statues near the Chapel. The half way mark at the dam is always a special moment for our intrepid explorers, as the bird hide offers many exciting sightings. The children also had a fun nature scavenger hunt card to complete, finding special items along the way.

After they had found the last statue, our very own JP otter,  the children proudly showed off their completed sticker treasure hunt books and were rewarded with a treat and their Saints Explorer sticker. The picnic continued well into the evening and it was wonderful to see our families getting to know each other as they start their journey together through Saints.
