We are delighted to announce that our 2024 Matrics have excelled in the IEB’s matriculation examinations. We are most proud of the St Stithians Girls’ College Class of 2024 who have achieved the best results in the history of the College.

The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) offers a rigorous assessment of the National Senior Certificate curriculum, preparing our students well for tertiary study. We will be highlighting the achievements of our top performers below. We wish also to stress our pride in each matriculant who has done her best. We thank our teachers, parents and community for pulling together with our students to enable them to achieve excellence and make a world of difference.

Our philosophy of learning and teaching promotes an academic culture which seeks to meet and extend the needs and styles of each student, enabling personalised and meaningful learning to take place. We pride ourselves on this approach, which seeks to optimise individual learning across the academic spectrum and includes enrolling a number of students with identified learning needs. We are proud of the top academic achievers, among the best in the country and whose results are documented individually, as well as of each student who has excelled against personal benchmarks.

Matric is the destination of a long journey of learning. We acknowledge the contributions of the teachers at the Preparatory Schools of St Stithians College, as well as those of other Primary Schools which educated this year’s Matric cohort. We pay tribute to the impact of Kamoka Bush School on the lives of our students on their Saints journey.

At this time of focus on the academic gateway of Matric, we affirm our commitment to the education of young people of character, who make an impact as leaders and citizens, shaped by a Methodist ethos. Academic learning is complemented with a diverse and highly successful sporting, cultural, outdoor education and community engagement curriculum.

Message from the Head of School

To the Girls’ College Matric Class of 2024 - A Message from Dr James

Dear Matrics

Sally_JAmes_(1)_(1)_(1)

The release of the Matric results is a momentous occasion, marking the culmination of a young person’s schooling journey and the celebration of her remarkable achievements. It symbolises the conclusion of one chapter and the exciting beginning of another—a transition into adulthood and the world beyond school. This milestone is imbued with deep emotion and joy, not only for our matriculants but also for their parents and teachers who have walked alongside them, offering unwavering support and making countless sacrifices to ensure a strong foundation for life and an exceptional, all-rounded Stithian education.

To the Girls’ College Class of 2024, heartfelt congratulations! I am immensely proud of each of you and the incredible success and personal triumphs you have achieved in your own unique ways.

As a College community, we celebrate and honour every individual who has reached this extraordinary milestone, standing tall in her own exceptional journey.

This year, as a Matric group, under the exceptional leadership of Head Girl Fifi Mugadza, your theme was “Creating Your Own Crew.” You encapsulated this vision with the image of an anchor and accompanying slogans: “Unity and Belonging,” “Creating Our Own Identity,” and “All Crew, No Passengers.” As crew members of the College, I am proud to say that each one of you has taken ownership of your journey. You have rolled up your sleeves, placed your hands firmly on the ship’s wheel, and guided us toward a shared vision. You have actively worked to create a place of belonging for One and All, made the most of every opportunity to learn, led with dignity and grace, and served our school and wider community with empathy and compassion. I will miss you girls beyond belief — your legacy is significant, and you have been exceptional in every way.

As you move forward into the next phase of your lives, remember that this is not just an end but a new beginning. Embrace the opportunities that come your way, continue to learn and grow, and let your passion guide you toward fulfilling your dreams. Choosing to be a crew member means being an active participant in your own destiny. It means recognising that your voice, effort, and presence matter. It is also about acknowledging the significance of something larger than yourself and, in doing so, discovering meaning, growth, and joy.

Reflect on the friendships forged, the lessons learned, and the personal growth experienced during your time at the Girls’ College. Cherish the memories you have created and use them as a foundation for the exciting journey ahead. Life’s journey will undoubtedly bring storms and uncertainties, but each of you have the skills and resilience to adjust your sails and steer through adversity with purpose and determination.

As you celebrate this milestone with your family, friends, and teachers, take a moment to express gratitude for the support and guidance you have received throughout your schooling journey. Remember that you were never alone on this path. Many have believed in your abilities, cheered for your success, and supported you over the past thirteen years. Today’s celebration pays tribute to One and All who have journeyed alongside you, providing care and encouragement to ensure your ability to thrive and succeed.

Let us collectively express our gratitude to your teachers for their dedication, encouragement, and high-quality tuition, as well as to your families for their unwavering support and faith in you. This gratitude extends to the teachers in the Junior Prep, Girls’ Prep, and our feeder primary schools, who nurtured you during your formative years and laid the groundwork for the success you celebrate today.

We have shared incredible bonds and moments of fun, celebration, and joy with our brothers at the Boys’ College. I extend congratulations to Mr du Toit, his team of staff and BC Matric Class of 2024 for their fine achievements. Thank you to the Boys’ College for their steadfast support of the Girls’ College. Our success as a College is a true collaboration—One4All and All4One. As leaders, we continually strive for the collective good, recognising that our success is built on the contributions of others.

Gratitude is also extended to the team at Kamoka Bush School, who have played an integral role in crafting the unique and holistic learning experience synonymous with the College. I also acknowledge the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) for their meticulous administration of the examination process and their commitment to ensuring fair, valid, and reliable high-stakes assessments.

As crew members and proud members of the GC Sisterhood, you know well that even the smallest contributions—a word of encouragement, a well-thought-out decision, an act of kindness can influence the entire journey. In the GC Sisterhood, we do not wait for things to happen; we make things happen. We are part of the solution, helping to create the future we envision. To the Class of 2024, go forth and make a world of difference. As GC Alumnae, much is expected of you, and I have no doubt you will rise to the challenge.

Once a Saint, always a Saint. May you always be cradled in the embrace of God’s grace and guided by His enduring love.

Warm wishes

Dr Sally James
