May 16, 2022 | Girls’ College | Author: Charlotte Crick (Grade 11)

The Girls’ College Matric Dance was held on Saturday 7 May 2022. The theme was ancient Greece, and every student there looked like they belonged in the heavens. The Dace Hall was draped from floor to ceiling in ivy and lights.

The guests arrived as the sun set and were greeted by a crowd of cheering students, all excited to see their idols dressed in gorgeous outfits. As they entered the hall and took in the decorations, they were ushered into taking a photo and were led outside to sign the canvas, drink sparkling grape juice and take in the view. The guests were offered an array of sweets and treats before entering the hall for the formal proceedings.

Welcomes and greetings were said by Dr James, Deputy Head Girls Sidney and Zoe, and the MD Committee. Zinhle Dlamini performed an acoustic piece that left people with goosebumps. The excitement in the hall was palpable and there were nothing but smiles throughout the room. The buffet opened, the queue formed quickly for the delectable food. Thank-yous were said and the dance floor was opened.

The night came to an end and the Matrics departed. It was an amazing evening that will never be forgotten.
