And so our journey begins!

February 05, 2021 | Junior Preparatory

On Monday 1 February St Stithians Junior Prep was a hive of activity as teachers welcomed their new children. There were mixed emotions, but mostly excitement, amongst the children as they were finally going to get the opportunity to interact face to face with their new friends and not just via an online platform. The children were desperate to give their teachers a hug and high five their friends but air hugs and high fives from a distance were the order of the day.

With Covid-19 restrictions in place, we decided to stagger the welcome so that parents would be able to walk their children to class and meet the teacher briefly.

Grade RR and Grade R children were excited to be in their new uniform at long last. Grade R children were happy to be in ‘big school’ at last and Grade RR were delighted to come to school with their big brothers and sisters, not just to drop them off in the mornings. Grade 1 children donned their new white school shirts, after a year of admiring them from afar. They had huge smiles on their faces and walked with an extra spring in their step.

The Grade 2 children have grown in leaps and bounds and some were quite happy to walk to their classes on their own.

The rainy weather we have been experiencing did not dampen the children’s mood and excitement to be at school.

What a great start to the year, despite the restrictions placed upon us. We look forward to a happy 2021.
