Water Polo

October 27, 2015 | Boys’ Preparatory

With origins being traced back to India, water polo has evolved greatly since its original inception and has influences of equestrian polo, rugby and soccer. A celebrated sport at our College, water polo is not only rich in Saints tradition but also in personal health benefits for our boys and a wonderful platform to extend their sportsmanship and character development.

The recent Saints Water Polo invitational tournament highlighted the quality of water polo in the country. Furthermore, the strength of our prep water polo can be seen in our current College first team where all but one boy was a member of the prep polo team.

Our prep team played 6 fixtures winning 4 and loosing 2. Our losses were to Reddham House Constantia and The Ridge. Congratulations to Reddham House Constantia who were the prep tournament winners. (Detailed results can be found on www.stithiansport.com).

Our boys put in some wonderful performances. Collectively they showed grit, passion, sportsmanship and an appreciation of what the sport offers. Our grade 7 players proved to be wonderful examples to our grade 6 players and we are optimistic that our team next year will continue the success of our current water polo platform.
