The St Stithians Girls’ College Choir tour of 2017 through Kwa-Zulu Natal was not only very enriching but exciting. On arrival in the Drakensberg, the choir was granted the opportunity to watch a concert of the world renowned Drakensberg Boys’ Choir which was nothing short of being phenomenal. Once the concert had officially ended, a number of the St Stithians Girls’ College Choir members joined the Drakensberg Boys’ Choir in an impromptu singing and dancing session which further entertained the other concert goers which included a number of international guests.

During the tour, the St Stithians Girls’ College Choir performed versatile musical pieces at the schools Treverton in the Midlands and at St Mary's School for Girls in Kloof. The choir performance at Treverton was extremely memorable for the students as they joined forces with the Treverton choir to perform the ever-inspiring song "When You Believe" which was most recently released by Mariah Carey and the late Whitney Houston.

Towards the end of the tour, the students were rewarded for their wonderful performances by spending a day at the Ushaka Marine World where they received a guided tour of the Ushaka Sea World and they watched an enchanting dolphin show. After this, the students spent some very relaxing time at a serene beach on the Durban coast.

The last 24 hours of the tour were spent at the Glenrock Game and Trout Farm where when the students weren’t searching for cell-phone signal, they enjoyed hikes and heart-warming moments with the adorable bunny rabbits and the new-born lambs of the farm.

The amazing 2017 choir tour was a first for the St Stithians Girls’ College Choir however it is most certainly not the last.
