Boys' Prep Mother's Day Chapel Service
Each year the Boys' Prep hosts a service in our beautiful chapel to honour all our mothers and mother figures, and the female care-givers, role models and teachers who play such an important role in our boys' lives.
Many weeks of practising by the boys and tireless coaching by the staff, culminated in a service that was heartwarming, funny, tear-jerking, entertaining, polished and very busy! Moms entered the chapel to the sound of the marimbas under the leadership of Mr Sibanda. Singing pieces were presented by the choir and our elite ensemble, the Barons. There wasn't a dry eye in the house when our Choir Master Mr Dingaan teamed up once again with Liam Naidoo for a superb rendition of 'You Raise Me Up'. Our Chatterbox boys presented their pieces and the Grade Six Sotho boys were well-rehearsed and soulful. The Bucket List Band coaxed the most amazing sound from their upturned buckets - with their new neon sticks! The whole-school item saw the boys turn to face their moms at the back of the chapel and up in the gallery - always a favourite part of the service when boys get to find their moms in the audience and give a little wave! Moms were treated to some refreshments in the Elephant Quad after the service.
A huge thank you must go to the Music, Drama and specialist teachers for preparing the boys, and to the backing musicians for supporting the boys on the day.
In the words of Brett Frankish in Grade Seven:
"This is from me
Thank you Mom
For always being there for me
Your kindness is never too much
You help me in school
And cheer me along
You're so special to me
And I thank you for that."
