Grade 2 Production - Panners' Gold

November 22, 2024 | Junior Preparatory

One of the standout events at the Junior Prep was undoubtedly the Grade 2 production of "Panners’ Gold", a captivating dramatization of the history and founding of St Stithians College. This heart-warming and informative production not only introduced our new parents and students to the rich legacy of the school, but also rekindled a sense of pride and nostalgia among the long-standing members of the St Stithians community.

The script, skilfully crafted by Gayle Harris in collaboration with renowned poet Ruth Everson, reflected hours of dedicated effort to ensure the narrative was both historically accurate and engaging. Their meticulous work, supported by invaluable contributions from Allister Stewart—arguably the most knowledgeable person on St Stithians in general—resulted in a story that honoured the school’s origins while maintaining its cultural significance.

The students approached their rehearsals with remarkable enthusiasm, managing to fully prepare for the production in just over two weeks. The volume of material they memorized in such a short period was truly impressive. Their hard work culminated in three exceptional performances, each met with great admiration. It was a true delight to witness their joy, creativity, and growth throughout the process, from donning costumes and makeup to experiencing the thrill of performing on stage.

This production not only showcased their talents but also fostered a deep sense of accomplishment, teamwork, and pride.
