Rain and Merlin

Merlin de Jager Rain's grandfather went to Saints at the beginning of 1954 and left the school at the end 1958. There was no rowing at the school in his day and therefore he participated in the main sports, cricket and rugby. He attended the school in the days where the only 2 houses were Collins and Mount Stephens and nearly all the senior boys were boarders.

Coincidently, the first grandson (Michael) of an old boy to matriculate is also in matric at the Boys College this year . The grandfather Dr Ian Thornton (1955-1960), son Shaun Thornton (Matric 1986) and grandson Michael have all attended Saints.
