DUKE'S VALENTINE'S CONCERT

Harmony performed at the Duke's Valentine's Concert. Jodi Kgosi received a riotous standing ovation for her rendition of Grenade. Our grateful thanks to our staff Mr Sibeko and Mrs Oelofse for their hard work in guiding and training our singers.

ORCHESTRA FESTIVAL
Our orchestra, Sancta Symphonia rehearsed all weekend before performing with Kingsmead, Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy and Trinityhouse in a massed orchestra item arranged by our very own conductor Eddie Clayton.

More than a 5th of the Girls' College are members of the choir. They went off to Camp Konka to prepare for the World Choir games that will take place later on this year.

DEBATING
Our Senior debators won 3 out of 3 debates against St Mary's, KES and Sacred Heart. Congratulations to Jemma Jenkins-Ferret who attended the trials for the SA debating team and was selected as a reserve for Team SA. She is a member of the SA "A" team a development side.

ROAD RUNNING & STRIDERS
Congratulations to Tiffany Uys, Katerina Gabriel and Kamryn Norton who competed in the Valentine's 10Km night race. Kamryn was placed 2nd in her age category which is outstanding.

Congratulations too to Mr Pierre le Roux for running his first marathon in a time of 4:28. He and his wife are training for the Comrades Marathon this year.

Striders Results this month: Katerina Gabriel obtained the fastest time for 4km with 19 min, Christina Holme in 2nd position with 20 min. Georgia Fourie is most improved and Tayla Orsmond has the best attendance.

WATER POLO
The water polo 1st team have had extraordinary successes this month and are now proud gold medallists of both the Reef Cup and the Old Mutual Roedean tournaments, where they won R30 000 prize money for their Community Partnership - Hearts of Hope. Leila Fernandes, Kate Hinrichs, Zanne Smit, Jennifer Everett and Una-Kelly Donnelly were selected for the tournament team at the Roedean tournament and Leila, Kate, Zanne, Nicolle Cronje and Tatum Lomax were included in the Reef Cup tournament team. Leila was also named Defender of the tournament at the Reef Cup.

The U14 water polo team won 8 out of 8 matches at the Beaulieu Festival, so it looks as if we will continue to have success year on year with this sport.

NIGHT GALA
The night gala was as supported by the school on a beautiful evening. St Stithians split their team into Blue and Red (two even splits) and Blue and Red were placed 1st and 2nd that evening against 8 other local schools.

ROUND SQUARE CONFERENCE - TANZANIA
Our girls went to Tanzania (and Zanzibar) for their Junior Round Square Conference.

KARATE
Claudia Dobson received her provincial colours from the Gauteng Karate Federation. She competed at the Trials held on Saturday 24th February and won gold.
She will compete at the Nationals in Durban on the 23rd to 24th March to be ranked and selected for the Zone 6, WKF Youth Cup League, African Cup, and WorldWKF Championship later this year.
