Fathers' Day Chapel

June 13, 2014 | Boys’ Preparatory

"Father" used to mean "disciplinarian" and "bread-winner," roles which are more difficult for a child to understand and to be appreciative of than that of moms. But it's a different story for dads today.
Today's dads are going through a major shift. They not only change nappies, they often stay home and raise the kids, something almost unthinkable for baby-boomer fathers. These are interesting times for men, fathers – and indeed, for Father's Day.

So let's really pay homage this year – to all the dads out there trying to figure it out. The baby-boomer dads didn't have it any easier than today's new super-dads, and it's no doubt hard to be compared, but what is great to observe is the passion, dedication and involvement of our dads, our men, in the lives of the preparatory boys.

Our Fathers' Day Chapel Service was a true celebration of the dads/fathers and male role models. The enjoyment of the service is captured by an email sent to us:

Just a quick note to say thanks to you and the boys for a heart-warming and moving chapel today. We oft forget the basic things in life and today was certainly a reminder. Importantly a sense of gratitude must go to yourselves for making sure we keep such celebrations on our calendars – and you only realise the value of certain things when you don't have them anymore , so once again my sincere thanks to you and "One and All" who were involved in today's chapel – most appreciated keep it up !
