Equestrian challenge results

Our Equestrian school team competed at our first even Interschools Equestrian Challenge against St Peter’s College and Prep and Garsfontein High and Primary.

St Stithians College came second to Garsfontein followed by St Peter’s.

It was a superb day of Equestrian skill – with events such as

Rescue Stakes:
An exciting relay type show-jumping challenge, with teams racing against each other, where accuracy, technique and speed are of paramount importance.

Western Mounted Games:
An exciting display of Gymkana type games, testing the bravery, speed, accuracy of the horse and rider, as they race against each other.

Compleat Horse:
A display showing off the obedience and showmanship of the horse, with a free test set to a theme and to music, and incorporating props to test both horse and rider.

Power Jump:
Here the horses agility and power are tested over a single jump, that will increase in height after each round up to a maximum of 1.3m!

Musical Kur Dressage Display:
A taste of the beauty of horsemanship, with a dressage display set to music, performed by one of South Africa’s top Dressage Riders, Nicole Smith, who recently competed at the World Equestrian Games

The Rector of the College – Dr Tim Nuttall (in the photograph with St Stithians Girls’ College Equestrian Captain , Michelle Zwonnikoff presented the awards and trophies at the mounted Prize-Giving at the end of the day.
