A faultless performance for Emma at the Roedean Music Competition
The Roedean music competition is a classical music competition with a reputation as one of the most rigorous and prestigious music events for schools in SA. This year a total of 122 entries were received from South Africa's finest young musicians in the categories of strings, woodwind, brass, vocals and piano.
The adjudicators were top SA professionals - Eugenie Chopin (voice), Carel Henn (cello), Pauline Nossel (piano) and Helen Vosloo (winds).
For her audition, Emma performed two songs, one classical Ombra my fu from Serse and On My Own from Les Miserables. She was awarded an A++ (95-100%).
Emma was then invited to the Gala evening where there were only two finalists per category. Emma delivered a faultless performance and won her category and became the first Saints winner for vocals at this music competition.
An outstanding achievement!
