Celebrating 20 Years of Excellence

January 21, 2015 | Girls’ College

The matrics of 2014 have excelled themselves by producing a record set of results as was communicated in the media release which can be found on the College website.

We are exceptionally proud of the 100% pass and the following achievements:

  • 100% of the girls obtained passes which allow them to apply for tertiary courses of study with 99% of them being eligible for university.
  • When analysing performance across our subjects, 70% of all subjects written achieved above 70%, and 90% all subjects written achieved marks greater than 60%.
  • 18 of the 19 subjects registered for in the National Senior Certificate examinations, reflected averages that were well-above the Independent Examination Board (IEB) national averages.
  • Bearing in mind that the 2014 matriculants had to contend with a new curriculum (CAPS), this group achieved the highest number of distinctions per candidate to date: 2,8 distinctions per candidate.
  • Candidates achieved a greater percentage of distinctions than the national IEB percentage, in 16 of our subjects.

Two of our top 3 achievers recognised on the IEB lists of Outstanding and Commendable Achievements came to us from the Girls' Prep, namely, Shani Pienaar and Ruth Gorven.

We are also immensely proud of our 2014 Head Girl, Rufaro Sithole who achieved 8 distinctions and our Deputy Head Girl Mabothe Maleka for her 6 distinctions, in addition to their excellent leadership responsibilities.

St Stithians Girls' College inspires excellence and empowers our girls to make a world of difference.
