Other news about Buffalo and Selbourne Sprints
What an exciting few days! The Buffalo Regatta and Selbourne Sprints is a roller coaster of ups and downs, between heats and finals. Our rowers had the challenges of wind, waves and tides. A highlight – and the best achievement of the week-end was the GOLD medal for the JW 1ST 8+. The boat had a combination of Open and U16 rowers. The girls had very little practice in rowing stroke in the eight, but came out looking together and raced to a convincing win over the other crews.
For the U16’s ,a major achievement was that from the heats they all qualified for finals in both regatta’s in all races – Skulls, Doubles and the Quad. There were some nail-biting races in the heats with great races, but their best final results were:
- Skulls - Madison Crews, Kate Pringle and Katie Tyndall- Biscoe raced – In the Selbourne Sprint – Madison Crews came 2nd
- Doubles - Jennavieve Williams and Bethany Williamson placed 3rd in the Buffalo Regatta
- Quad – Madison Crews (stroke), Jennavieve Williams (3), Kate Pringle (2) Bethany Williamson (bow), Katie Tyndale-Biscoe (Cox) - 2nd in the Buffalo Regatta.
