An innovative and integrated Sports performance and wellness system

Our Athletic Development Programme and curriculum are designed with the ability of all students in mind. Enabling students to become stronger, faster, and more powerful with a reduced risk of injury. Structured sessions are run by our professional staff once a week during school hours for grade 8, 9, and 10 students.

Testing of each student takes place in February determining a base framework as well as screening for possible muscle imbalances, posture, and movement discrepancies. Testing also includes muscle endurance, aerobic capacity, flexibility, strength, and speed. Retesting in June and October shows the baseline results and improved performances after the students have completed the blocks of training.

There is an intentional focus on the alignment of the developmental pillars to the AD curriculum. The pillars, aligned with the Saints Sports values, focus on the holistic development of the boys converging on exercise and movement.

In the words of Dr Kathie Nunley “Exercise matters. Young brains cannot develop properly and to the best of their potential without daily exercise”. Our Athletic Development vision aligns strongly with this statement. Athletic Development enriches every student’s relationship with movement and wellness, strongly benefitting our sports programme.

In keeping with our holistic philosophy at the College, we believe that Sport cannot be separated from effort in academics, from cultural and service activities, and essentially, that sport cannot take place in isolation. Sport is a part of life at the Boys' College, where individual excellence, collective teamwork, compassion, responsibility, and opportunities for genuine success are to be found.

The Boys' College is The Team.
