STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL

BEST JUNIOR VOCALIST
Anastasia Schroder in Grade 8 won the title of Best Junior Vocalist in the Kyknet ‘Sing for Christ’ finals. This is a national competition that spans 17 weeks and numerous rounds. On Saturday 24 March Anastasia competed against 21 semi-finalists in a show that will be televised within the next several days. She won prizes worth R50 000 including a collaborative song with a songwriter for her CD and a music video and photo shoot, Anastasia will perform to over 150 000 viewers over the next year and perform in two live concerts for 4000 - 8000 spectators within the next few months. She will also appear as guest singer at a number of prestigious events during 2018. Congratulations on this remarkable achievement.

JOHANNESBURG THEATRE ARTS & CULTURE FESTIVAL
Congratulations to the following girls on their awards for drama. Georgina Stanley and Emma Schipholt received a Distinction Plus, Zoe-Blu Mottram,Thobile Mthimkhulu and Emma Kruger with Edith Mugadza received Distinctions, with Rae Attridge and Robyn Edwards received a merit.

Claire Newman and Jordan Korevaar were placed in the Top Ten of the Faber Castell South Africa Art competition where they produced a 3cm by 3cm drawing in relation to the theme of "love".
SOCCER
Well done to Sarah Walker played in the Future Champions Ladies Final for SAFA Johannesburg vs SAFA Tshwane. She captained the SAFA Johannesburg team that beat their opponents in a penalty shootout to win the final!

Congratulations to Kirsten Nolan, our first team soccer captain, who has joined the Mamelodi Sundowns first ladies team in the Sasol League. She has been on two national camps this year where she played Nigeria at home and in Benin City for the U20 World Cup qualifiers.

WATER POLO
Congratulations to Leila Fernandes, Kate Hinrichs, Jennifer Everett, Una-Kelly Donnelly and Zanne Smit on their selection to the U18A Currie Cup side to play at the SA Nationals in April. Leila is the captain of this Gauteng 18A team. Zanne and Jennifer are also off to play in the U17 SA side in Prague this month. Kate and Leila are in the team to play at the Junior World Championships in September.

At the Old Petrian National Tournament over half term our team were placed 2nd to Pearson by 2 goals in the final. Congratulations to Zanne Smit, Leila Fernandes, Kate Hinrichs and Jennifer Everett on their selection to the prestigious tournament team. Leila was Best Defender and Zanne was recognised as the Best Goalkeeper.

1st Water Polo Team
St Stithians College Club side - Water Warriors won the Gauteng Water Polo league this month too, beating the very experienced Wits Ladies side. This winning team consisted of Saints current players and two previous captains from Saints.

DIVING
Saints take 2nd place in the Diving Inter High Competition. Bailey Davenport won the U15 section and Bailey Heydra won the Open section. Both girls have qualified for Youth and Senior Nationals for Diving which is an incredible achievement.

At the SA schools rowing championships we achieved some top results and as a result of all the efforts of the girls, the rowing club came 3rd in the overall girls points trophy, we also won two gold medals at this regatta.

We were thrilled to provide a sendoff for the South African Hockey Team in our assembly recently. They have been training at Saints as a squad for the Commonwealth Games. In this photograph they are sporting their "Green and Gold" Stripes that they received from our Jabulani Committee, mimicing the earning of stripes that are awarded to our sports students in preparation for big tournaments.
