Girls’ Preparatory News

On Wednesday, 1 February 2017, the Girls' Preparatory held their annual Grade 7 Induction Service in the Chapel.

New Year, New Beginnings The Girls’ Preparatory was full of laughter, smiles and excited young girls on their first day.

It has been an incredible year of celebrations for the Girls’ Preparatory in this, its 21st year. Our school has come of age and we have had a lot to celebrate, not least of which being accredited as a Thinking School. On reflection in assembly this week, the girls listed a variety of highlights from the year.

We are excited to announce that, in this our 21st year, St Stithians Girls’ Preparatory have met the requirements outlined by the Cognitive Education Centre at the University of Exeter for accreditation as a Thinking School.

Wednesday, 2 November, was an eventful day for the Girls' Prep. The following exciting Interhouse events took place: Music; Athletics and Squash.

The Grade 5s began their MeLT (Mobile eLearning and Teaching) Programme in July 2016. The students and teachers embarked on a journey of learning and spearheaded the use of iTunes U in the Grade 5 classrooms.

"Marking 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl – the world’s number one storyteller." The Girls' Prep held a civvies day to mark the occasion.

Our A & B Tennis Teams participated in the Sun City 2016 School Tennis Tournament during the August holidays. Congratulations to our A Tennis Team for winning the Girls’ Section of the tournament. Congratulations to our B Tennis Team for being placed 8th in the tournament. Well done to Sarah Millard for being selected as the best female player of the tournament.

The Grade 6s have learnt about the geography and history of China this term.

The Grade 7 Visual Learning Project (VLP) Exhibition is in its 4th year at the Girls’ Prep and has become a highlight of the senior year on our campus.

The Grade 5s began their MeLT (Mobile e-Learning and Teaching) journey this week following Parent-Daughter iPad Security and Social Media/Online Safety events.

The final selection of U11A players took their unrelenting passion for the game and finely tuned skills to the play offs where, after a dramatic and eventful afternoon of netball, they found themselves in the finals. The girls played their hearts out through a nail-biting match against Redhill, where they clinched first place.
