Wemmer Senior Sprint Championships

Congratulations to our Rowers on a great Regatta on Sunday at the Wemmer Senior Sprint Championships. We raced all Open events against other schools as well as Clubs and Universities.

Saints did outstandingly, we won,
Men's B Eight (2nd 8)
Men's C Four (2nd 8)
Men's B Four (1st 8)
Men's A Four (1st 8)
Men's A Eight (1st 8)

The Men's A Eight is one of SA's oldest rowing events and rarely won by school boys.

Tuks have had a nearly unbeaten season this year and were looking to win the main Sprint title of the year, Saints got out well to establish a good lead over the other school crews, moving with the UJ and Tuks crews.

The 1st 8 moved away in the middle of the race and in windy conditions more suitable to the more experienced University and Club crews, continued to move away and eventually hold off a fast finishing UJ Mens Eight by less than half a second to win this event for the school for the first time since 1998. UJ finished second and Tuks third.
