The Great Saints Bake-Off for Youth Day

June 16, 2020 | Campus

Our St Stithians College Community showed their support for Youth Day today, (Tuesday 16th June 2020) by heading to their kitchens and taking part in the Great Saints Bake-Off, an initiative grown out of the idea that during lockdown, many have been using the time of isolation to hone their cooking and baking skills - we thought that perhaps we could use those skills today - all for a good cause.

Hundreds of biscuits, cakes, loaves of bread, muffins and other delicious baked goods were given to the Johannesburg Organisation of Services to the Homeless to distribute via the Randburg Methodist Church. Thank you too for your donations to the Endowment fund of St Stithians College. The Endowment fund is used to support the school in times of need, assist bursary students and capital projects.  Each contribution makes a world of difference.

Thank you to Julia Phipps for initiating and implementing this idea with the assistance of the Advancement Team. We are extremely grateful to our Saints Family for the overwhelming response to this request, so many photos have been shared that it would be impossible to showcase them all on our social media.  Here, we share many of the photographs received today and say THANK YOU to everyone who donned an apron (and braved the weather to drop off) and supported this initiative and ensured that many of the homeless would not go hungry today.  Special #SaintsMoments to commemorate Youth Day.
