Saints SportsFest Virtual Challenge 2021

March 24, 2021 | Campus

Calling all Saints to participate in our Saints SportsFest Virtual Challenge 2021, made possible by Standard Bank, taking place on Saturday 3 April 2021 (from 06h00 to 18h00). Join us in keeping Hope In Sport alive by signing up and running, walking, hiking or cycling on Saturday - all for a good cause! (All proceeds raised go to our Thandulwazi Maths & Science Academy).

We take pleasure in officially launching the Saints SportFest Virtual Challenge, made possible by our sponsor Standard Bank, creating Hope In Sport. The event will take place on Saturday 3 April 2021 and will consist of three Challenge types:

  • Walk/hike
  • Run
  • Cycle

As this is a challenge, each participant decides on the distance that they would like to complete and can enter multiple challenges, as long they complete the event between 06h00 and 18h00 on the festival day.

This is a fun event aimed at students, families and the broader school community. The best part of this virtual event is that anyone can participate…anywhere! Even though the event takes place on Saturday of the Easter weekend (what would have been the date of our much-loved, postponed Saints Sports Fest 2021), a virtual race is a race that can be run, walked or cycled from any location you choose. You get to complete your own race, your own distance, at your own pace, within the time frame as stipulated – anytime between 06h00 and 18h00 on Saturday 3 April 2021. There is also a little friendly competition built into the Challenge, you can log your kilometres for your school and challenge other schools to rise to the challenge…

With our Virtual Challenge, there are no parking problems, no crowds - there's not even an official starting line! So, how will it work? The Challenge will be measured through our new and exciting interactive App which can be accessed by registering on the entry site at the following link.

When participants first connect through to the entry site, they will need to create a profile which requires basic information such as name, surname, ID number, cell number and email. Once registered on the App, each participant’s information will be captured, the challenge type:

All funds raised from the entry fee will be donated to St Stithians College’s Thandulwazi Maths and Science Academy, a 100% donor-funded, nation-building educational upliftment programme established by the College in 2005. The programme assists in providing a greater number of young people access to quality education focussing on Learner and Teacher Development. If you need more reasons to enter into our Saints SportsFest Virtual Challenge, there are lots of great prizes and lucky draw prizes will be on offer from some of our sponsors, Standard Bank, Amici Pizzeria and more…

We invite our Saints families and students to wear their Saints Supporters stripes or Saints team uniforms while participating in the Challenge to show support for Saints #StrongerOneAndAll. Take pics of yourself and your family members taking part and send these to moments@stithian.com and we will share these Saints SportsFest 2021 images on our social media platforms to inspire and celebrate our virtual challenge.

Our Campus is open on the day of the Saints SportsFest Virtual Challenge and in line with our theme #HopeAndLight2021, we invite our Saints Family who are in Johannesburg for the Easter weekend to walk or run the Path of Hope & Light around our beautiful campus. It allows One and All to discover the stories about the eleven chosen sites. Scan the QR codes located on the solar posts and light up our history. For more information and for the Hope & Light Map, click here.

For any race queries, call/ WhatsApp 083 299 1412. For any other queries please send an e-mail to events@stithian.com

We hope that you will join us for this re-imagined Saints SportsFest Virtual Challenge, sponsored by Standard Bank, creating Hope In Sport in a healthy way to support a worthy cause.

Yours sincerely
