Rowing Camp
January's Rowing Camp
This year’s January Rowing Camp was extremely successful.
On the first day of camp girls worked well together to set up camp and clean out the boat house which, all the rowers can agree, is a lot of work.

They set up their beds quickly and went straight to the boathouse without complaint to help clean it up and make it more manageable. Shortly after the clean-up, it was time to get on the water in 30 degree heat which the girls handled very well throughout the camp. The temperature didn’t change much through the course of the evening as the girls had to choose between lying under their thick sleeping blankets or battle the mosquitoes. The opens suffered being blinded by the security light outside the club house, but didn’t let any of it get in their way of rowing which I congratulate them on.

I can say on behalf of all the rowers, that we pushed hard to get through our sessions to get to our meals faster. Once off the water we were never disappointed with the camp moms' preparation and hard work to make our lives easier. They worked extremely hard for us and we’re all very appreciative of their dedication to our sport. Without our camp moms we would surely go mad and starve, so thank you to all the parents that took the time out of their holiday to be there for us and make the camp the success that it was. Packing up on the last day of camp required a lot of organization which we wouldn’t have been able to do without the camp moms guiding us, and helping us finish up so we could get home as soon as possible for that well-earned nap.

I am very proud of all the girls. Their dedication and passion for the sport was clearly evident on this camp. All the girls put every effort into making the camp a success and all came away having grown stronger, fitter and faster. I can’t wait to see what they will achieve this season.
