Prep Marimba Fest Rocks Mears Hall!

St Stithians College once again hosted the spectacular annual Preparatory Schools’ Marimba Festival, an event that enchanted audiences with the vibrant and rhythmic sounds of marimba music. On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, Mears Hall transformed into a haven of musical brilliance, welcoming a superb audience attendance, with not an empty seat in sight.

The festival was an awe-inspiring celebration of youthful talent and musical collaboration. The highlight of the evening was the impressive mass items, where over 200 primary school students united to create a symphony of sound that left the audience spellbound. The atmosphere was electric, full of vibrant energy as each school showcased their unique flair, clearly embodying the spirit of their respective schools.

Our St Stithians Girls’ Prep students held their own magnificently, playing with confidence and engaging the audience members with their captivating performance. Their dedication and artistry shone through, making a significant impression on everyone present.

The event featured the talented marimba bands from St Stithians Boys’ and Girls’ Prep, St David’s Marist Prep, Holy Rosary School, St Marys DSG Prep, Thornhill Primary School from Botswana, Steyn City Primary School, and Dainfern Prep. Each performance was a testament to the unique spirit and talent of the students, making the festival a true celebration of musical joy and youthful exuberance.

The host and organiser, Mr Mike Sibanda, received a well-deserved standing ovation for orchestrating such a lovely evening of music. His dedication and passion were evident in every aspect of the festival, making it an unforgettable experience for all. We eagerly anticipate the next St Stithians Marimba Preparatory Festival, looking forward to another evening filled with the magic of marimba.
